Our Largest Gift Amplifies Caring

Walking into a restaurant, grocery store, or any space filled with people, the late Hazel Perkins couldn’t help but stop and say “hello” to those around her – even perfect strangers.

“Hazel and Roger were the ultimate connecters,” says Kari Barker, a close friend of the couple.

They were passionate about serving their community and committed time and energy to taking care of those around them. Their love of connection and others inspired a generous gift to CaringBridge’s new service offering, the SupportPlanner – a perfect match to their values.

Rallying Support

The CaringBridge SupportPlanner embodies what Hazel and her husband Roger loved most – the power of community. Through the use of this online planner, families have the ability to request and receive support from their community by organizing meals, activities and helpful tasks.

“Hazel would have loved the SupportPlanner because it gives people the opportunity to come together to help their family or friends when they need it most,” Kari reflects.

Roger and Hazel’s generous gift – the largest gift CaringBridge has received to date – also established The Roger and Hazel Perkins Endowment Fund. This fund will help ensure CaringBridge is able to help more families in more ways.

“While they never used CaringBridge during their lifetimes, they appreciated how the service helps families stay connected, especially during difficult moments when hope is all there is to hold on to,” says Kari.
